Solo Exhibition at The Curlew
Sally will be showing a collection of her floral work at The Curlew, Bodiam throughout the Summer.
Private View to be confirmed. Sign up to her mailing list to be kept in the loop.
Free talk and workshop
Sally will be delivering a free talk and workshop looking at her encaustic process as part of her artist in residence.
Sally uses encaustic wax and hologram pigments which lend an iridescent lustre to her work and enhance the texture of the encaustic.
Encaustic wax is a historical painting technique where the wax is heated up and painted with. Encaustic paint is a combination of beeswax, pigment and a small amount of hardener (either dammar resin or carnauba wax). The paint is solid at room temperature so you need to melt it before it can be applied. Once on the support, it cools and hardens, and a heat tool is used to ensure that each layer is fused to the last. This makes it a very tactile working experience.
Artist in residence
Sally is the first artist in residence at Bannatyne Spa Hotel Hastings post pandemic.
As part of her residency she will be exhibiting her artwork in the Beauport House gallery, alongside taking some time out in this historic setting and the beautiful grounds to reconnect with herself and gather inspiration and motivation for future collections.
Sally will be at the Gallery on Sunday 3rd April from 2pm for the Private View event.
